A surprise name took the top spot in final XFINITY Series practice at Bristol Motor Speedway

Kaulig Racing’s Blake Koch ran a 15.516 seconds (123.666 mph) to post the fastest lap of the day in the No.11 Chevrolet. The team formed weeks before the season-opener at Daytona.

8-time Bristol XFINITY winner Kyle Busch was second (123.365 mph), looking to make it five wins in six starts this year. Another Cup driver in Austin Dillon turned the third-fastest speed (123.356 mph) after pacing opening practice earlier in the day. Busch is the only driver in the top-five with a series win at the .533-mile track.

Jeb Burton put the No. 43 Ford fourth (122.905 mph) as defending Camping World Truck Series champ Erik Jones was fifth (122.905 mph). Kyle Larson was sixth, still looking for his first NASCAR-national series win at Bristol, with Ty Dillon in seventh.

Daniel Suarez, Elliott Sadler and defending race winner Joey Logano rounded out the top-10.

41 cars made a lap during the session as two cars will go home after Saturday’s Dash-4-Cash heat races finish up.

Next time the XFINITY Series cars will run will be for time trials at 9:30 a.m. ET (FS1) to set the grid for a pair of 50-lap heat races.
