Scott Heckert and Austin Hill hope history holds form at Bowman Gray Stadium.

The two posted the fastest practice times Saturday in preparation for the evening’s NASCAR Hall of Fame 150, and will look for front row starting spots in qualifying.

Three of the four race NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race winners at Bowman Gray have started on the front row.

Heckert’s No. 34 Project Lifesaver Chevrolet had a lap of 14.363 seconds (62.661 mph) around the flat quarter-mile track in the final 30-minute practice session. Hill’s top lap in his No. 22 A&D Welding/Don Rich Ford was 14.457 (62.254).

Ben Rhodes’ track qualifying record, set last year, is 14.382 (62.578 mph).

Sunoco Rookie of the Year candidates William Byron and JJ Haley were third and fourth overall respectively.

Kaz Grala led the first 45-minute with a lap of 14.520 (61.983) that was good for fifth overall. Hill, who ran the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race Friday at Dover International Speedway, was also second in the first session.

Dalton Sargeant was sixth overall, followed by Nick Drake, Rico Abreu, Kyle Benjamin and Kenzie Ruston.

Qualifying for the NASCAR Hall of Fame 150 is 6 p.m., and the green flag for the race is slated for 9 p.m.
